Today’s April Fools and this is no joke about overcoming procrastination…
Because someone's gonna catch it sooner or later..
Page 2 – yea TWO – of my new book has a major typo!
Here it is:
This has everything to do with overcoming procrastination, and I’ll get to it in a minute.
But most importantly, HOW DID THAT HAPPEN?
I had a publisher – AND an editor!
Truth is, I had my dirty hands formatting the final version of the book…
And just didn’t spell check that part.
Dumb, I know.
So it’s totally my fault…(and I feel really guilty for my editor)
Maybe you've seen it already and didn't know when the right time to tell me was…
I know that's how some friends and family felt until I acknowledged the mistake on my own.
But listen…
Here’s the reason I'm telling you this story about overcoming procrastination…
You would NEVER have seen the typo…
If I didn't WRITE and PUBLISH the dang book in the first place !!
We all want perfection – to never make a mistake.
We're scared of putting ourselves out there, exposing ourselves in case we mess up (like I just did).
We're petrified of being judged by others.
If that's you too, welcome to the club.
ANY kind of perfection holds us back my friend.
Your book will never get written, your business will never expand and grow..
You’ll never quit that job you hate and step into what makes you feel alive every day…
You’ll be stuck in mediocrity all your life, collapsing in your chair at the end of the week from disappointment, waiting for the perfect time – hoping things will change “next week”.
I learned from one my own coaches to “go for version 3” as a “cure” for overcoming procrastination.
In other words – don’t worry about the first 3 “versions” of something you put out there.
I’m not saying put out a piece of shit – try your best…
But get it out there.
In fact, it’s funny, because IN this book, one MY OWN coaching clients references “version 3” as his favourite thing he learned from ME 🙂
LOL – I’m just passin’ along the good stuff!
What are your thoughts? Do you have your own “cure” for overcoming procrastination? Let’s get a conversation going…
