create a digital product that generates sales

I want to share a few tips to help you to create a digital product that generates sales.

In no way is this the whole enchilada.

This is top-level stuff.

But I’ve found so many of my students benefit from these questions and brainstorming exercises.

One more thing, a lot of what you’ll read here you’ve probably heard before.

I won't get into major detail beyond the top level, or this would be an entire course all on its own.

If you have specific questions, lemme know, and I’ll answer to the best of my ability.

Let’s roll.

WHEN YOU WANT PEOPLE TO BUY YOUR ONLINE PRODUCT…

…the first step is *knowing who your potential customer is.

You need to understand their problems.

Problems they will pay money to solve.

You want to know the stuff that keeps them awake at night.

In other words, what is their worry scenario?

Yea, I know we’ve all heard it before.

SO LET'S MAKE SURE WE ARE FOLLOWING THE RULE OF 1

“specific solution…to ONE of their problems.”

Being everything to everyone gets us no-one.

Here’s the formula: look at your market and divide it into 80/20.

From that, take the 20% and look inside there for your problem.

It’s the niche that makes us rich.

Back to this.

Now we know we need to focus on ONE problem.

WHAT IS THAT SPECIFIC PROBLEM OR CHALLENGE?

It might be “my customer needs to lose the post-baby belly fat”

Your specific solution should be easy. Because it’s your product or your service.

However, be sure you know the SPECIFIC result they want. What is their irrational need? What are the real-world results and things they expect when they finish with your product?

Make sure you clearly communicate these results in your marketing copy, videos, ads, etc. It needs to be external, tangible, measurable, specific, emotional, and clear.

Those 6 pieces of communication are critical.

The reason I say this is because I’ve found many of the 6 communication pieces missing whenever I help clients with their marketing copy.

So just be aware of them when you are writing anything – from an opt-in page to a sales page and beyond.

THE NEXT STEP IS TO UNDERSTAND WHERE YOUR DIGITAL PRODUCT STARTS

This is a biggie.

Because if you’re like me, you could get caught in teaching them EVERYTHING.

That makes us overwhelmed.

It stagnates the production of the product.

So, know where you are “entering their world.”

For example, let’s say I’m creating a product to help online course creators market their products.

I would start my product at the marketing stage. I wouldn’t talk about how to CREATE the product.

Also, I would assume they’ve already DONE the market research. They know their avatar.

And, they’ve validated their product and market.

So, instead of teaching them all the first-stage stuff, we jump right into the solution they need – marketing the product to make sales.

Does that make sense?

This leads me to my next point.

WHERE DOES YOUR DIGITAL PRODUCT “LEAVE OFF”?

In other words, where do you STOP teaching?

Again, this is something I personally need to be VERY conscious about because I can teach forever.

One thing always leads to the next. Am I right?

So make sure you have an end in mind. One that gives them an external, tangible, measurable, specific, emotional, and clear result – remember?

There ya go.

I know this is not a full-fledged “how to” – because I’d be writing forever – but I hope it gives you something to sink your teeth into today.

As always, if you have any questions or need more clarity – let me know below.
