Why You Should Be Marketing in Facebook

It was June 30th at our quarterly meeting where I was talking about marketing in Facebook.

My Platinum coaching clients staring at me…

Wondering…

What’s THIS all about?

Because every quarter I share some “new” stuff I just learned about the online business world.

Eager to implement.

Excited to see how it helps my clients.

Marketing in Facebook: ALL in

So, I decided to start a 12-week test with Facebook ads.

I know.

Nothing ground-breaking, right?

But here’s the deal.

If you’ve NEVER really done heavy marketing in Facebook, so it IS ground breaking to commit to it.

Yea, I’ve dabbled in ads…spent a few hundred here and there…

I even thought I knew what I was talking about when it came to Facebook and my online business.

But I never had ‘real’ data to analyze before.

So I stood up and told the group “my 12-week commitment is to sell 200 copies of my product.

To do that, I’m gonna run Facebook ads and a webinar a week.

I have no idea what’s gonna happen. But when we meet back here in September, I’ll have a LOT of data and experience to share.”

Why am I telling you this?

Because I’m FIGHTING the inner voices…the saboteur that says “dude, this ISN’T the “right” time to be testing your online business and trying marketing in Facebook. It’s summer. PLUS, nobody’s gonna wanna sit on a webinar and buy your shit while it's hot outside.”

I don’t care.

Because come September, there will be another excuse right?

I’ve dabbled with marketing in Facebook long enough to know we’ll always come up with every excuse why we can’t, or shouldn’t do it now.

So I’m “out there.”

From all of the mentors, coaches, colleagues (thank you guys/gals) I’ve had in my life, all of the successful ones give the same advice:

“just get started.”

It’s the most profound advice you’ll ever hear.

Because we all have some reason why we can’t.

But it’s the ones who take a leap of faith that usually win.

What’s that quote? “You never fail. You either win or learn something.”

’Nuff said.

If you want some help with your online business, you can connect with me here.  I'll draw up a totally implementable business plan for you – FREE of charge.  If you like it and want some more direct help, we can talk about you joining my Platinum group.  If not, no hard feelings.  You still get the blueprint 🙂

Are You Making the Right Business Decisions? Find Out Where You Really Stand

When it comes to making the right business decisions, we really have only 3.

Here they are.

1. Do nothing
2. Do the same thing
3. Take a leap of faith

The first one really won’t apply to most people reading this. Because you’re an entrepreneur – perhaps a business owner, I’m guessing you’re doing SOME thing!

The “do nothing” is there for people who tell me they ‘wish’ they could start a business at a later time, when the time is right.

When all the stars align and there’s no chance of making a mistake – these peeps will ‘give it a shot’.

In other words – they aren’t entrepreneurs.

They’re wanna-preneurs.

With that out of the way, let’s look at the second one.

This is one of the business decisions where most of my clients fit; at the beginning of our relationship.

And it’s normal.

I even fit into this category multiple times throughout my journey. Until my coach kicks me in the ass.

Here’s where the classic “Do the same thing – get the same results” cliche comes in.

Most of us don’t like change. We are scared to fail.

So we’re stuck in this loop.

We’re unhappy with our business, our lives…yet we’re unwilling to do anything different about it.

As Einstein politely said…’doing the same thing, but expecting different results is the definition of insanity’.

The bottom line is – you MUST change what you’re doing to go beyond where you are right now.

I’m preaching to the choir here, I know, but this is for the dude sitting beside you.

On the other hand, if you’re crushing it right now – DO MORE OF THAT!

Contrary to popular motivation and coaching stuff, there’s really no need to keep adding MORE CRAP if what you’re doing right now is absolutely working.

Here’s the Catch

Sometimes we THINK we’re crushing it. But we’re really not.

So we continue to do the same thing – yet we’re not getting any further.

Here’s an example.

I ran a Facebook ad campaign. The first week I spent $171.61 in ads. My cost per acquisition was $14.30.

I still made money, because I sold products on the back end.

But I didn’t stop there.

The second week, I paid $66.63 for ad spend. This time, me CPA (cost per acquisition) was $16.66.

So I spent LESS in ads, but the lead cost me more.

Hmm, the tweak taught me some lessons.

Those ARE expensive leads. But like I said, I made up for them on the back end with product sales.

So am I crushing it? Even though I’m making money on the back end?

No. Because it’s STILL not the best I can do.

And this is the leap of faith thingy I’m talking about.

But I’m jumping ahead.

Let’s stick with this for a moment.

This week I ran Facebook ads again. The total ad cost was $69.98 and CPA was $7.78.

In my math world, that’s kinda/almost half of what I spent the first two weeks on my lead acquisition.

Dang man! That’s pretty awesome.

Can you see where I’m going with this?

Week one and two I was OK with the results because I made money on the back end.

So if I just kept doing the same thing, my CPA would probably be the same thing this week at 14-16$ each.

So I tweaked and tested.

Which brings me to the last point.

The sandbox where most are terrified to play.

Taking a leap of faith.

Of the three options, this is the ONLY one that will get you further in your business.

It will bring down your lead cost. You’ll be more productive. Expenses will be cut. You will have more customers…whatever.

But you MUST take that leap.

You have to jump without a safety net.

When people ask me “is this gonna work?”

My answer is always the same; “I think so, but let’s test it and see.”

That stops the uncommitted people right there.

So in reality, they loop back to the first choice. Doing nothing.

And when we do nothing, we GET NOTHING.

Taking a leap of faith WILL get you results.

They may not always be the positive results of mo money, mo money, mo money…

But even the negative results, like spending $16.66 for a lead push you in the right direction.

You with me?

If you want to chat about your business and put a real strategic plan in place on my dime, go here > but PLEASE only apply for this if you're a serious entrepreneur. You'll see what I mean when you read this.

Have an awesome day!!!

Your Marketing Sales Funnel WILL Suck!

OK let’s get something about your marketing sales funnel out of the way straight off the top.

YOU ARE GONNA HAVE A FUNNEL / CAMPAIGN THAT SUCKS.

It’s inevitable.

So the longer you wait around, trying to perfect things…making sure it’s perfect so you don’t lose money…

They LONGER it will take to actually MAKE money.

Here’s why.

You don’t know what’s broken (or working) in your marketing sales funnel unless you deploy it.

In other words, you don’t know if your boat will float until you put it in the water.

I see so many people perfecting, analyzing, asking others opinions, changing their marketing sales funnels because some guru said they did it this way…

And a week later, they repeat the cycle.

How do I know?

BECAUSE I WAS THAT DUDE TOO.

Plus, I coach a lot of entrepreneurs who are constantly in the analysis when it comes to their marketing sales funnel.

Like I said, I’ve been there – so I know how you feel.

I felt like I had to make sure everything inside my marketing sales funnels was perfect too.

And that led me to wait around, with my index finger poised over the “about to click the GO button” for years.

After a while, there’s just no point in analyzing anymore.

We MUST understand this one thing about our marketing sales funnel:

The real world will give you the feedback about your marketing sales funnels.

NOTHING MORE.

I don’t CARE who said what –

It doesn’t MATTER if it works for the next guy.

There’s absolutely NOTHING wrong with modeling people so you can shortcut the system…but it does NOT MEAN it’s going to work for you.

So please, do yourself a favor and just put it in the water!

I know this coming from my real estate investing background too.

I have coached HUNDREDS of real estate investors who are just like online entrepreneurs…

They don’t want to invest and make a mistake…AND they want their investment to start paying them back IMMEDIATELY.

There’s nothing wrong with that goal.

But it’s usually not reality.

If I had waited to invest ‘at the right time’, I would not have a portfolio of properties today.

If I had waited until the RIGHT property came along that would pay me 500 or 1000 cash flow per month so I could quit my job right away…I would NEVER have bought a property.

I just bought.

And I tweaked my system along the way.

The same goes for your online business and marketing sales funnel.

Get some edu-ma-cation (yes that’s how it’s spelt) and then go USE IT.

Here’s what the most successful entrepreneurs do:

They jump.

And build the parachute on the way down.

You with me?

After you deploy, you can start automating things – I talk about that in this post here.

Business Lessons from Wonder Woman Transcript:

~ begin transcript ~

Yesterday, I saw the Wonder Woman movie.

Powerful…is the best word I can use to describe this movie.

In so many ways.

I gotta admit, I was emotionally moved at points throughout the film. Just because of what Wonder Woman stands for.

Now.

What does all this have to do with our business?

EVERYTHING.

Here’s why.

(kinda spoiler alert – so if you haven’t seen it, stop reading)

BELIEVING in your fight.

That’s #1

If you get nothing else from who or what Wonder Woman is all about, I’m sure you’ll agree she BELIEVES in her cause.

She STANDS for justice and peace.

She BELIEVES in her own ability to STOP the bad guys.

She’ll shield and protect the innocent with her own life.

What about you and me?

Aren’t we doing the same thing for our family?

I would imagine that you too, would do ANYTHING to protect your family – am I right?

So the ONLY thing I see holding people back, is their BELIEF in themselves.

Even though they tell themselves how much they will do for their families.

So THAT has to be first. BELIEF. In fact, this one word is the FIRST word in my company’s creed. Because I can ONLY help entrepreneurs who BELIEVE in themselves.

At the beginning of the movie – Diana is scolded by her aunt because she backs off from the fight. She doesn’t BELIEVE in herself enough.

Without stepping into that belief, Diana would never have run into the first battle with machine guns blazing to lead the troops.

Remember that.

Which brings me to point #2

Running head first into battle without a full plan.

The ONE thing that made Diana run into battle was nothing more than her cause. Her fight.

She knew what the END result was for her.

But she didn’t have the entire battle plan of how to get it.

All she knew was where she was now (at the front of enemy lines), and where she wanted to be (KILL the bad dude who was behind enemy lines)

Diana saw the only way to GET to the bad dude (point B) was to RUN THROUGH the front line of fire. She didn’t know if she would survive. (Because at this point, she still didn’t know that she was immortal.)

For you and me, even though we’re not immortal, all the shit the world throws at us is our battlefield.

The hardship, the adversity, the fear, the how-will-I’s and so on.

I have always said…when you are faced with your biggest fears, you ALWAYS have to reach down to your ‘WHY’, your purpose, your cause, your FIGHT!

And THAT leads you through the battles.

Just like Wonder Woman.

Here’s the last lesson I want to point out:

The battles are part of a bigger journey (war) – not a final result.

Diana thought by killing the bad dude, the war would stop – immediately. But it didn’t, did it?

She was faced with the reality that this is only a PIECE of the war. Diana finally understood there is more for her to do.

So again, she digs down into the cause – the purpose – the REASON she was put on this earth.

And goes back into battle. The biggest battle of her life.

Even when she was ready to give up. Even when the first result WASN’T what she expected. She didn’t turn around and go back home.

And THIS is probably the most important lesson of all.

When we’re completely burnt out…we’ve put in everything we’ve got and STILL didn’t get the result we expected…if we reach down just a little more, we can find a bit more gas in the tank to push us forward.

We’ve come THIS far…to turnaround and give in is the WORST “solution” we can muster up.

It's at those moments that the true warrior, like Diana, come to the surface.

In life, movies, books, youtube videos, the lessons are there.

We just have to look for them.

How to read faster

Some people have asked me how to read faster.

So I wanted to share a few of my own tips and methods with you here.

You’ll often hear me say that learning to read faster has allowed me to “read a book a week.”

For a lot of people, reading just ONE or TWO a YEAR is a chore. Let alone a book a week.

So HOW do you read a book a week?

Let me show you.

But first, let me clear one thing up.

I DO read a book on AVERAGE, once per week.

Admittedly though, there are some weeks I don’t read one.

So in reality, over the course of a year, I’m probably reading about 45 books give or take.

For the sake of argument, we’ll just call that a book per week, okay? 🙂

Now.

Even reading 40 books or so a year seems outrageous, right?

But if you follow along with me here, you’ll see it’s not that difficult.

An average book has 64,000 words in it.

The average person reads about 200 words per minute.

Breaking that down, an average book would take the average person 320 minutes to read.

If you break down 320 minutes over 7 days, that’s only 45 minutes PER DAY you are reading.

You CAN read 45 minutes per day, can’t you?

THAT ALONE should be an aha for you.

Now that book doesn’t seem so daunting after all, does it?

Let’s Get You To Read Faster

The first thing I did was enroll in a speed reading course.

My friend Jim Kwik has one over at https://kwiklearning.com/

I don't get paid for linking to it. I just think he’s the best in the business, and totally recommend his training. I paid for my own training too, so this is not a freebie promotional thing.

Moving on.

The tips on how I read faster are ones that personally work for me.

When you go through a speed reading course, you’ll definitely pick up a few tricks that will resonate with how you personally read.

Step 1.

For me, the first thing I do to read faster is scan the entire book.

I let my subconscious absorb the pages.

It’s important to know here, that I’m NOT reading…I’m scanning.

However, there are times when I stop and read some of the parts that stick out.

That gets me even more excited to read. I’m looking forward to learning more and how everything relates.

THAT’S KEY!

Because if you’re not excited about reading, then you’re just not going to read much are you?

In fact, a lot of people use reading to put them to sleep.

BAD IDEA.

If you’re brain associates reading with sleep, guess what happens when you REALLY want to read?

Yeah, you start getting drowsy. And before you know it, you’re asleep.

Step 2.

OK, so now that I’ve scanned the book and picked out a few places to read and “foreshadowed” what’s to come, I go to the contents.

I know, it’s back-asswards, but this just gets me to read faster.

Once I’ve glanced over the contents, I’ll skip over to the END of the book.

I’ll read the last few pages (or section). The reason I do that is that a lot of books will summarize the entire book in those last few pages. So I get the gist of what the book is all about right there.

In fact, if the author is good, you’ll get some kind of checklist (in point form) of all the cool things you just learned. Sneaky, right?

Step 3.

Now I’m ready to dive in.

Here’s a few things I want you to know.

Get whatever you NEED to get out of a book.

There’s no rule that says you have to read every word.

For me, when a book gets into history and deep research, I skip most of it. I hated history in school. I really don’t care about where the information came from – UNLESS it’s REALLY important. And for the most part, a lot of the history stuff isn’t, in my opinion.

That method alone, allowing myself “permission” to skip parts of a book that doesn’t interest me, made me immediately read faster.

Now. I’m NOT cheating. It’s not that I’m just reading a chapter here and a chapter there and patting myself on the back for “reading a book a week.”

But at the same time, if there are parts that bore the hell out of you, why should you SUFFER when you read?

In fact, in MANY of the books I read, the author TELLS you to skip this or that if you are X or Y.

Because they know parts of the book just aren’t meant for you.

The point here is you do NOT have to read every last word, cover to cover. I sure don’t.

One point to make though – if you’re reading a novel…it’s probably a good idea to read every word.

Step 4.

To read faster, I use my finger.

Yup. Any speed reading course will RE-teach you to use your finger. Really, ANY type of pointing device to “underline” the words as you read will work.

The reason is, your eyes naturally follow movement.

Which makes you read faster!

So when we were taught as kids to STOP reading with our fingers, it totally went against our natural way to read.

And the result is that the school system makes us BAD readers.

So there you have it.

A few extra tips on how YOU CAN read faster, and even a book a week – if you really wanted to 🙂

Always remember, leaders are readers!

If you like this, lemme know.  What are YOU doing to read faster?  Any tips to share?
