How to get work life balance
~ begin transcript ~

One of the things I've learned (and there's tonnes I'm gonna share with you) after coaching & teaching so many people, is that we don't live our lives in compartments

In other words, every part of our lives are interconnected.

When one part is not right, it ultimately affects another.

It took me many years to figure this out on my own.

And now, it's one of the IMMEDIATE red flags I sense (within minutes) of talking to someone.

Everyone I meet wants some form of ‘life balance'.

My belief is that we ALL have work life balance.

But most of us are just balancing the wrong stuff at the wrong time.

In other words, what I think most people mean is; they want to stop the balancing act they're doing.

When they're at work, they're thinking about home, about the soccer game they're missing.

When they're at home, they're thinking about the pile of work they didn't get to.

At the skating rink, they'll take the 30 minutes to ‘catch up' on emails sitting on their phone – distracted – not present with the true meaning of why they are there in the first place.

Being ‘present' doesn't only mean physically there…it means engagement.

But I digress…presence could be for another post.

The point today is to bring your attention to more areas of your life.

Your business is a reflection of what's going on in your life.

Period.

When I realized this years ago, I began to measure things…just like any good entrepreneur would do.

And so I'd like to give you a tool I use with my own personal coaching clients to help you see where you're at.

The Life Balance Wheel is a great way for you to ask yourself “where do I want to make a difference in my life?”

To many people, “Life Balance” feels like an impossible dream.

From my experience, they are passionate about an area or areas of their life. They are committed to an outcome and so focused on it that sometimes other corners of their life are in ruins.

“Balance” shouldn't be a “goal” because our lives are constantly changing…

Instead, we should always be looking at whether we are moving away from balance, or moving toward balance.

And that's why this Life Balance wheel will help you.

Download your copy and do the quick 5 minute exercise.

Then each month do it again and measure where you are. Don't look at the previous month's data when you're filling out the new one.
