What business research methods are you using to make sure you’re putting your message in front of the right people?

Researching is not the sexy part of business.

Often, it’s boring. It’s not fun – and it doesn’t make you money. TODAY.

On the other hand, it WILL hopefully make you money TOMORROW.

Equally, it will SAVE you money, because if you’ve done your research well, you’re not wasting marketing dollars trying to reach “everyone”.

This is the stuff most entrepreneurs don’t want to do.

Because, like I said, it doesn’t have an “immediate” return on investment (of time and energy)

I’ve learned throughout my business life how important this step is…

In fact, it’s what allowed me to build a base of 5 thousand customers world-wide in 1989 when there was NO internet…and, NONE of the business research methods we have available to us today.

The First of My Go-To Business Research Methods

Google.

No surprise there, right?

With Google, you can “spy” on ALL your competitors, find competitors you didn’t know about and so on.

My clients constantly ask me “Joey, if there’s a lot of competition, isn’t that a BAD thing?” they continue “how can I compete?”

The answer is, in your online business…if there’s a lot of competition, it’s GOOD!

It means there is a market out there for you to sell to.

If there was NO competition, it would be something to worry about.

The Second of my Business Research Methods

Facebook

Another GOLD-MINE.

I don’t have the space to go into depth here…but trust me – you can find just about anything about your market from Facebook.

Whether you like Facebook’s “intrusion” into our lives or not – entrepreneurs taking advantage of their research and development are kickin’ ass.

As an example, go into your advertising manager, go over to the tools menu and select “audience insights”.

From there, you can research ANYTHING you want.

I’ll do this when I’m looking into a market and want to know more about the audience I’m about to send a message to.

I geek out at this stuff. Because it’s like finding personal diaries and knowing exactly what people do and think in their daily lives…

So we can target them, speak their language and offer them products and services that completely FIT what they’re looking for.

BRILLIANT.

Those are my two favourite business research methods…there are more, but I just wanted to let you in on 2 of them at your disposal right now.

What are YOUR favourite business research methods?

Let’s start a conversation below…
